About The Big League
The Big League is a fictional baseball league inside the Out of the Park universe, founded in April 2023. Each season runs five weeks in real life.
League History
The league's own record book goes back further than its real-world founding — the in-game history starts in 2001. It launched with 28 GMs and grew into the 32-team league it is today. Over that span, 107 different people have run a TBL team, and 19 of them have gone on to actually win a championship.
The Beat Writer
TBL News Network recaps are written by Hemlock Grovetree, who has covered this league about as long as anyone — and not entirely by choice. Back in 2001, Grovetree ran the Denver Dynamite himself. He piloted them to a sixth-place finish and was shown the door by the next spring. A few years later, a fellow named Jay took over that same franchise and won five championships with it. Grovetree has never fully accepted that the timing was a coincidence.
These days he works the press box instead of the front office, which suits everyone better. He trusts pitching, defense, and teams that grind out a 4–3 win; he’s suspicious of big-money spending sprees, hot starts that look too tidy, and the league office on general principle. He loves this game with his whole heart and suspects it of something at the same time. Read him for what actually happened around the league each sim — and stick around for the Ledger, where he keeps tabs on whatever he’s decided you’re not supposed to notice.
Staying Connected
Slack is where the league actually runs — sim updates, commissioner announcements, trade talk, all of it. We stream a preseason show every season, plus the full playoffs. For live standings, stats, and contracts, StatsPlus is the source of truth, updated straight from the save after every sim.
